You're Part of the Groundswell
Managed to grab another great book from the library. Groundswell talks about the power of the internet community, and how it can be used to benefit companies.
This book was much easier to read than Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything.
This book has a blog, of course. You can check out the table of contents from the book's website.
The main point of the book is to let businesses understand that they are part of the groundswell, whether they like it or not. It's the case of what you don't know will hurt you.
There are many case studies in the book, as you would see from the table of contents. And there are a lot of people with good success stories in the book. The problem with most business books is, they tend to focus on the success stories and play down on the stories about failures. This book is no different, but I do wish to see more balanced business books in the future.
This book is very current and relevant. You'll probably recognize most of the companies in the book and might even have used some of their services online.
The focus of the book is to tell you what the groundswell is and what it is capable of, in terms of achieving business objectives. Provided also are tips on how to tap into the power of the groundswell.
It's almost a compulsory read for every executive to keep up with what's happening around in the Internet world, with a focus on social media and how people are communicating online.
